# Frequently asked questions

## Appointments & visits
- **How do I book an appointment?** The easiest way is on WhatsApp. Use the booking form on this site or tap the WhatsApp button — it opens a ready-to-send message with your details. We confirm your time by reply.
- **How often should I visit the dentist?** For most people, a check-up and cleaning every six months is right. If you have gum disease or a higher decay risk, Dr. Barake may suggest coming a little more often.
- **Do you see dental emergencies?** Yes. If you have severe pain, swelling, a knocked-out tooth or a broken filling, message us on WhatsApp and we will arrange to see you as soon as possible.
- **What should I bring to my first visit?** Just yourself and any recent X-rays or dental records if you have them. We will take a full history and examine carefully before recommending anything.

## Costs & payment
- **How much does a check-up cost?** A check-up is affordable and the best-value appointment you can book, because it keeps small problems small. We will always tell you the cost of any treatment before starting it.
- **How much do dental implants cost in Lebanon?** It depends on how many teeth are involved and whether bone grafting is needed. After a short assessment, Dr. Barake gives you a clear, itemised quote with no hidden extras.
- **Will I know the price before treatment?** Always. Transparent pricing is a core principle of the clinic. You will hear your options and their costs and decide with full information — never any pressure or surprises.

## Comfort & pain
- **Does a root canal hurt?** Not the way people fear. The tooth is fully numbed first, so the procedure is comfortable — most patients say it is no worse than a filling. The relief from the original toothache is what they remember.
- **I'm nervous about the dentist. Can you help?** Yes, and you are far from alone. Dr. Barake works gently and at your pace, explains everything before doing it, and never rushes. Many anxious patients become comfortable after a calm first visit.
- **Do fillings and cleanings hurt?** Cleanings are generally painless. For fillings we use local anaesthetic so the tooth is numb, and gentle technique keeps the whole visit easy.

## Treatments
- **Is teeth whitening safe?** Yes, when done by a dentist. Professional whitening uses controlled concentrations, protects your gums and does not damage enamel. Temporary sensitivity is the only common side effect.
- **Are braces only for children?** Not at all. Healthy teeth can be straightened at almost any age, and adults make up a large share of orthodontic patients. Clear aligners make discreet treatment easy for grown-ups.
- **Is it better to save a tooth or pull it?** Saving your natural tooth is almost always the better long-term choice. A root canal or careful repair keeps the tooth you have; an extraction leaves a gap that may later need an implant or bridge.
- **When should my child first see a dentist?** Around their first birthday, or when the first teeth appear. Early visits are gentle and mostly about familiarity, so your child feels comfortable long before any treatment is needed.
